ASG-A Commander Col. Jacob Peterson presented Kendall the awards at the organization's headquarters on Bagram Air Field. Kendall was assigned to ASG-A on a one-year deployment through the Department of Defense Expeditionary Civilians Program, which deploys personnel to support military operations. Before redeploying to the United States in September 2018, Kendall served as the site manager of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dwyer in Helmand Province. ASG-A provides standardized services, facilities and infrastructure to the Joint Expeditionary Force at Dwyer and other FOBs throughout Combined Joint Operations Afghanistan. The ASG-A mission is in support Resolute Support, the NATO-led, non-combat mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, who assumed nationwide responsibility for Afghanistan's security following the conclusion of the previous NATO-led International Security Assistance Force mission. Its purpose is to help the Afghan security forces and institutions develop the capacity to defend Afghanistan and protect its citizens in a sustainable manner. Kendall's service awards were presented by Peterson at the ASG Headquarters on Bagram Air Field. Kendall said he enjoyed his assignment in support of the Resolute Support Mission and will think of the people and mission here long after he has redeployed. The ASG mission kept us very busy but it made the year go by very quickly. The services and support we provide to the service members takes a lot of pressure off of them, because if ASG didn't provide that service, they would use troop power to provide that support, " said Kendall.
