Cosford, United Kingdom, 30th April 2021. RAF Museum Cosford’s National Cold War Exhibition hangar features a number of suspended and large aircraft, some of which are over a 100ft in the air. With limited or difficult access for museum staff, an annual clean of the larger and suspended aircraft along with inspection of the suspension cables is undertaken by a specialist team using a combination of both rope access and mechanical platforms. Working off cables the specialist team from Arco Professional Safety Services take around four weeks to carry out all the aircraft cleaning and all the safety checks on the suspension cables. Suspended aircraft in the exhibition include Sabre 4, Meteor NF14, Canberra PR9, Lightning F1, Javelin FAW1, Dakota, Hunter T7 and Vulcan B2.
