Chinese employees of Alibaba Group take photos to celebrate Alibaba's IPO on the New York Stock Exchange at the headquarters of Alibaba Group in Hangzhou city, east Chinas Zhejiang province, 19 September 2014. To celebrate the IPO, which began trading late Friday (19 September 2014) night local time, the company erected a towering model of the New York Stock Exchange's facade. Under an overcast sky and a light rain, crowds of employees posed for photos in front of the model, which was backlit in purple and red. At around 9:30 p.m., as the NYSE was gearing up for trading, fireworks broke out above the Alibaba campus, in blazes of white, green and red. Elsewhere on the sprawling campus, where employees zip around on bicycles colored the signature orange of Alibaba's logo, pinwheels dotted fences and a version of a 1980s pop song titled "Alibaba" blared on repeat. By Friday evening, many employees were strolling around, posing with the New York-themed cutouts designed for the occasion: a blue-and-white striped version of the Empire State Building and a yellow New York-style taxicab and a bright red edifice labeled "Public Library."
