Chester Special #1 'Jeep' NX12930 formula one racer; race number 89 - Information:"Special #1" Designed and built in 1932 by Art Chester, powered by a 125hp Menasco C-4S; span: 16'8" length: 15'0", for the 1933-35 Nationals competitions, registered as NR12930 and flown by Art Chester. Modified with new wings as" Jeep" for 1936-37 races. Original airframe was donated to EAA, and was reportedly undergoing Ray Goss restoration in 1997. Named after Eugene the Jeep, a character in the "Popeye" comic strip (aka "Thimble Theatre").
