The Douglas, the l'onderosa, and Concolor have large seeds and send out a strong plant and therefore they are found lower down. Pungens seed is small, about 110, 000 to the pound. In the higher altitudes are frequent shower and often moss in the woods and the ground is sel- dom dry. It is not hot enough to kill the plants, and so, on the north side of the high alti-.
