Brain Amenya, operations director checks on crates containing Black Soldier flies level one Instar, at the farm in Lower Kabete. Zihanga (meaning Zero Hunger) is a waste recycling farm of organic waste such as animal waste from slaughterhouses and market food waste that feeds the waste to Black Soldier Flies (Scientific name: Hermetia illucens) in turn producing animal protein and rich organic compost. The farm employs 6 young men and offers trainings for farmers about Black Soldier Fly farming.
