The Bauhaus building in Dessau-Roßlau, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, Designed by the founder of the Bauhaus, Walter Gropius in 1925 and 1926, commissioned by the city of Dessau. It's a Unesco World Heritage site since 1996. The Bauhaus school building opened in 1926 after the National Socialists drove the school out of Weimar in 1924. In 1932 the National Socialists gained the majority in the Dessau city council and closed the school. The seven years in Dessau between 1925 and 1932 are considered the heyday of the Bauhaus.
