Batik is an traditional Balinese art technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth. This technique originated from Java but has become popular throughout Indonesia. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of heated wax with a spouted tool called a tjanting and then applying dye to the fabric within or around the resist areas.
