Bantry West Cork Ireland, Monday 9 Jan 2023; The Local Injury Unit (LIU) in Bantry General Hospital was shut this morning due to Staff shortages. The decision was made on Friday evening following attempts by Hospital Management to get Locum cover. Hospital management said that every effort was made to get staff and to avoid closing the Unit which was opened last August by then Taoiseach Micheál Martin. Management of Bantry General Hospital have had to close the Local Injury Unit (LIU) due to staff shortages.
