Aztec Stone of the Sun, The Aztec calendar stone, Sun stone, or Stone of the Five Eras is a late post-classic Mexican sculpture saved in the National Anthropology Museum, Mexico City and is perhaps the most famous work of Aztec sculpture. Circa 15th century.

Discovered in 1790 in the Plaza Mayor, the Stone of the Sun was originally misidentified as the Aztec Calendar. It has more recently been identified as a large gladiatorial sacrificial altar, known as a temalacatl. It was not finished because of a deep crack that runs from one side to the center of the piece at the rear.
