Led by Communists and seven other Leftist parties, the students during the first two days of the demonstration (July 27-28), boycotted classes and squatted on tram tracks thus obstructing the movement of the vehicles. Led by Communists and seven other Leftist parties, the students during the first two days of the demonstration (July 27-28), boycotted classes and squatted on tram tracks thus obstructing the movement of the vehicles. Photo Shows:- A massive procession of students demonstrating, was stopped by the police near the Governor's residence in Central Calcutta. The students wanted to raid a Writers Building which houses the offices of ministers, to lodge their protest against the tram fare rise, but were stopped on the way.
