Uwe Seeler was born in Hamburg as the third child of Anni and Erwin Seeler and went to school in Eppendorf. After school, he also did an apprenticeship as a forwarding agent in Hamburg from 1952. On February 18, 1959, Seeler married Ilka Buck, with whom he has three daughters. At the age of nine, in 1946, Seeler began playing football for the Hamburger Sportverein (HSV Hamburg Hamburg). He played his first international game in October 1954 at the age of 17. Until his retirement on September 9, 1970, he made 72 international appearances from the national soccer team. Seeler took part in the World Cups in 1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970. Seeler played for HSV Hamburg Hamburg throughout his career and achieved numerous successes with him. 239 Bundesliga games and 137 goals are on his account. After his time as an active athlete, Seeler worked successfully as the owner of a clothing company and as a representative for Adidas (a job he had been doing since 1961 thanks to Sepp Herberger). From 1995 to 1998, Seeler was President of HSV Hamburg Hamburg. ?SVEN SIMON Photo Agency GmbH & Co.
