Portrait of Alfred Binet (1857-1911) French psychologist who along with Theodore Simon invented the first practical intelligence test, the Binet-Simon scale the precursor to IQ (intelligence quotient) tests, circa 1885. Author of La psychologie du raisonnement, recherches expérimentales par l'hypnotisme (1886) and from 1891 until 1911 worked at the Sorbonne's Laboratory of Experimental Psychology, Paris, France.
