This is part of the Qilian Mountains, also known as Tsilien Mountains, which form part of the Kunlun Range (Kunlun Shan), one of the longest mountain ranges in Asia. These mountains form the north eastern escarpment of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau. A small amount of snow can be seen. At first it looks very isolated and distant from civilisation; however, numerous rice terraces and roads can be seen on closer look A small amount of snow remains on a high plateau.
