A spring piston air pistol , Johann Adam Kuchenreuter, Steinweg near Regensburg, circa 1840. Blued, octagonal barrel with brass-lined, smooth bore in 9 mm calibre. Barrel can be pushed forward for loading by way of a release lever on lower side of fore-end. On upper side of barrel dovetailed front sight and height adjustable rear sight as well as silver-inlaid signature "I. ADAM KUCHENREUTER". Brass pressure cylinder, lock plate and hammer with fine, partly polished vine engraving. Set trigger. Walnut half stock with engraved brass mounting.
