A Hellenistic Pilos type helmet with cheek pieces, 4th century B.C. A tall bronze skull set off from a broad brim, reinforced inside. Short neck guard plate, and curved, long cheek pieces on tube hinges. The crown of the helmet skull is reinforced with a cap decorated with radiating lines, surmounted by a three-fold, "W' shaped, curved plume socket appliqué on a strong iron bar. Height with cheek pieces 47 cm. Weight 1303 g. Bluish-green and reddish-brown patina with soil deposits. Minor repairs. Axel Guttmann Collection (Inv.
