A French or Spanish long rapier, circa 1600 Heavy thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section, the base with shallow fullers on both sides. The ricasso with two struck cross marks on both sides. Iron swept hilt with extended, straight quillons. Pierced guard plates, some of the bars with dragon head finials. Original, helically grooved grip with iron wire winding and Turk's heads. Pear-shaped, faceted pommel.
