This was a common sight along the roads, north of Kuwait City, where the fleeing Iraqi Army was attacked by the USAF on the night of February 26th. This is on Route 801, the road to Um Qasr. Wrecked and burned-out military vehicles littered the roads and desert and the bodies of the dead remained unburied for several weeks. After Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in August 1990, coalition forces were quick to send their armies to both defend Saudi Arabia and to successfully oust the Iraqi forces by the end of February 1991.
