This was basically the furthest that the Americans advanced into southern Iraq. King Shulgi was the second king of the Third Dynasty of Ur. He reigned for 48 years, from 2094 to 2046 BC. The ruins of Ur were officially off the target list for coalition aircraft and artillery, which prompted the Iraqis to place their fighter aircraft from the Tallil Air Base (known today as the Imam Ali Air Base) as close as possible to them.
