This was just outside the British Army's Press Information Bureau in what was referred to as Vitez, though British forces were actually based almost 3 kilometres north-west of Vitez, in a school in the village of Bila. The Croat–Bosniak War was a conflict between the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the self-proclaimed Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, supported by Croatia, that lasted from 18 October 1992 to 23 February 1994.
