More information:

25-year-old Chinese man Liu Yong, who lost one kidney in an operation, shows his scar caused by the operation in Yueyang city, central Chinas Hunan province, 24 September 2012. A year after he had his spleen removed at the Xiangyue hospital in Yueyang in central Chinas Hunan province, Liu Yong found that he is missing his left kidney, reports the China Youth Daily, the newspaper of the Communist Youth League of China. 25-year-old Liu had his spleen taken out at the hospital last year due to a parasitic infection. When he underwent a health check in September, he was shocked to discover that his left kidney had disappeared. Liu believes the surgeon secretly removed his kidney along with his spleen, either in order to sell it or because it had been damaged during the surgery and the hospital wanted to cover its mistake. Chen Xuejin, a doctor at the hospital, denied the accusation and said that Lius left kidney was unable to function normally due to congenital defects and that an initial health report which said he had two healthy kidneys was a mistake made by a doctor who did not do his work properly. Peng Kai of the Yueyang No.1 Peoples Hospital in the city, who was in charge of Lius first check, insisted that his report was correct. The health authorities in Yueyang has launched an investigation into the incident.
