24 May 2011. Morgan City, Louisiana, USA. The Atchafalaya river is close to record water levels along the levees up and down the river system as floodwaters crest. Water is seeping through sandbagged levee gate structures. Another 2ft of water is expected following the opening of the Morganza spillway complex to ease flood pressure on the Mississippi River.
