1988 view of Karl Marx statue in Revolution Garden, Tashkent. In 1993 this statue was removed and replaced with one of Tamburlaine, the Uzbek national hero, following the independence of Uzbekistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The square in which it stands is now called Amir Timur Square.
