1957, people gather on the beach at Prestatyn, North Wales to watch a Sunday Pictorial Beach Beauty Contest. The newspaper had organised a 'You May Be The MARILYN of Prestatyn Sands Competition, to find a female whose figure matched that of Marilyn Monroe. In the 1950s and early 60s, the American actress had become not just a hollywood superstar but an international one. On the stage, three cut-outs, 1) How Do You Shape, B) Does Your Figure Fit? C) Are You A Marilyn? The Pictorial, as the newspaper was known, spend the summer of this year touring Britain's seaside resorts to find its Marilyn.
