SUSKULT demonstration plant, student environmental engineer, working student, here measures water temperature in vertical cultivation, hydroponics food production system in which plants grow soilless using mineral nutrient solutions as part of indoor cultivation. SUSKULT obtains the required resources carbon dioxide, phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen as well as heat and water from a sewage treatment plant, in this case the Emschermuendung sewage treatment plant. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT, the Emschergenossenschaft is treading a new path.
