13 July 2018, Germany, Wittenberg Lutherstadt: A young woman observes a banded blue morpho(Morpho achilles) with a wing span of 11 centimetres sitting on her head at the Alaris butterfly park. An unusually high number of king swallowtail (Papilio thoas) are hatching these days at the around 1000-square-metre-big butterfly house with 140 butterfly species. More than 250 of these colourful butterflies with a wing span of 12-14 centimetres have left their cocoons and romp about the tropical plants at 24 degrees and a humidity of 85 percent.
