It is now possible to buy a personal heart monitor which operates with a mobile phone. The monitor consists of a clip on case containing two electrodes/contact pads (see image ref DYR67E), some electronics and a tiny battery. When the user touches both pads the electronics detects their ECG and transmits it wirelessly to the phone where a software app displays the ECG on screen as a live moving trace which can be stored for future reference . This provides the patient and physician with an excellent tool for capturing and diagnosing heart arrhythmias.
