Mueller, Boatswain's Mate, first class, of 2904 Delaware Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisc., has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for his outstanding service in making possible the eventual salvage of a flaming and derelict tanker carrying a large cargo of high octane aviation gasoline. The award was conferred by Rear Admiral E.H. Smith in behalf of the commander in Chief, U. S. Atlantic Fleet. Mueller serves aboard a Coast Guard Combat Cutter.
