Caption: Lushan, Hefei, China - Nov 2002. A man walking past a church in the old European hill station of Lushan, a small town above the Yangtze River. Lushan, a hill station and tea plantation set up by European and American immigrants during the last half of the 1800's, was strategic in the Western powers attempts to infiltrate and trade with China. Strewn with old stone villas, mansions and churches of several different European architectual styles, Lushan was later made into a resort town and made famous by Chaiman Mao who would hold party meetings there.
