This Welsh Trial has been running since 1939. Competitors score points the further they drive up the steep hill with 25 points being awarded for reaching the top. The passengers act as 'bouncers' who bounce to help the car grip on the steep sections. Shown here is a Sunbeam car from 1928 about to start the hill climb.

Engineers push the legendary Bluebird once driven by Sir Malcom Campbell to the start line for a drive through the town - the car is a 1920 Sunbeam 350 HP. In 1925 Campbell broke the World Land Speed record in this vehicle for the third time with a speed of 150.75 mph. The Bluebird belongs to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
