CIMC Raffles is a shipyard in Yantai, Shandong, China. This area of China, together with nearby Japan and South Korea currently provides about 80% of the world’s shipbuilding capacity. The shipyard covers 72 hectares and possesses the world’s largest gantry crane, Taisun, which has a lifting capacity of 20, 000 metric tonnes. This is particularly useful in the building and servicing of semisubmersible rigs, several of which are owned by CIMC subsidiaries. The yard also has one of the world’s largest dry docks.
