While the female olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) lays its approximately 100 eggs into the nest hole it can not move. So there is nothing the mother turtle can do against the black vultures (Coragyps atratus) that lurk to steal some of the eggs while they are being dropped.
