View looking NW at the E end of West Kennet Neolithic chambered tomb, Wiltshire, UK, showing the entrance facade & line of massive sarsen slabs erected across the concave entrance forecourt to seal the tomb. Built c 3650 BC, five burial chambers are enclosed by an E-W chalk mound over 100m (328ft) long & 3m (10ft) high. The disarticulated skeletons of some 50 adults & children were found systematically deposited in the chambers.
