This plaque, on the gate-post of house 13-15 on the D514 in Sallenelles, acknowledges Gerard as the first Belgian killed in the Landings. He was killed on 16 August 1944 and the Memorial was put up by Dinant, where he had been born 20 years before. The plaque disappeared around 2009. Gerard was a member of the Piron Brigade and has another Memorial in Ranville church.
