The Murder of Saint Knud or Canute IV King of Denmark in 1086. After introducing unpopular taxes a rebellion broke out and Canute was killed on 10 July 1086 inside St. Alban's Priory in Odense. He was the first Dane to be canonised by the Catholic church. Painted by Margaret Isabel Dovaston circa 1914
