An unlikely friendship seems to have developed between the two. Images from November 11th show the tawny owl frowning at the camera before allowing thr painted lady butterfly to sit comfortably on its head.The UK's tawny owl population is around 20, 000 but has fallen by a third since the 1970s due to the destruction of woodland areas and natural habitatTawny owls are highly adapted for hunting in woodland areas and can reach speeds of up to 50 MPHThese adorable images were captured by Mark O'Neill (27) from Birmingham, UK using a Fujifilm X-H2S.?I was worried if I got too close, I'd frighten the owl but it was extremely happy for me to move closer and capture the images, " said Mark?As I took a step closer the owl looked at me with what looked like a frown and I managed to get a frowning shot.?Being close allows one to witness the animal's personality more."I love being able to capture their character in the moment with my photography." mediadrumimages/MarkO'Neill
