The image is of the ruins of Ruthven Military Barracks. Built in 1721, one of four forts built by General Wade to police the Highland following the failed Jacobite Rebellion of 1715 with each block housing 60 men. In 1745 the Barracks was attacked by a 200 strong Jacobite army and successfully defended losing only one man. The year later the Jacobites returned with a bigger army plus artillery forcing the defenders to surrender, when the building was torched and burnt. The Jacobite rebellion eventually fizzled out with the decisive defeat of Bonnie Prince Charley's army at Culloden Moor in 1746
