The first Madness of Ophelia - Figure Study, 1848-52. Artist: Dante Gabriel Rossetti.. Virginia Surtees (Rossetti Catalogue Raisonne) labels this as a study for the watercolour La Belle Dame Sans Merci but it seems more likely that it is a study for the 1864 watercolour The First Madness of Ophelia (Oldham Museum and Art Gallery).
