The Building in Hyde Park, for the Great Exhibition of 1851 - Punching Machine, 1850. View of '...the operations of punching bolt-holes in the bars of iron, and cutting off the ends by the shears. These modes of substituting mechanical for manual labour are to be seen in every large mechanical establishment in the kingdom. It may be mentioned here, that about 3000 holes are punched during the present working day of ten hours'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
