. Die Gartenwelt . exilis. Er deutet zwar darauf hin, daß sie medizinischen Zwecken nicht diene, sagt aber nichts von einer wohlriechenden Wurzel! In Pompeji gibt es an verschiedenen Häusern oder deren Innerem wunderbar erhaltene Wandmalereien, darunter schnee- weiße Iris florentina und bimmelblaue Iris pallida. Sie sind an ihrer Farbe gut zu erkennen. Die Form der pallida ist etwas verschieden von jener der florentina, ganz wie in der Natur. So findet sie sich im Viridarium des Hauses „Papridius" , auch im Hause der „Niobe".
