RMR6RMHM–15th Century Rye House in Hertfordshire, England on the banks of the River Lea, was the centre of a plot to kill King Charles II and his younger brother, the Duke of York, the future James II in 1683. When the king and duke returned from Newmarket races to London the royal party would pass down a narrow road near the house, where it would be straightforward to ambush and kill them. The ambush never happened, but the failed plot was discovered and the conspirators were arrested.

RMR9XGKG–Newmarket Racecourse, is a British Thoroughbred horse racing venue in the town of Newmarket, Suffolk, England. Racing in Newmarket was recorded in the time of James I and Charles II was known to attend races on Newmarket Heath with his brother, the future James II. The first recorded race was a match for £100 between horses owned by Lord Salisbury and Marquess of Buckingham in 1622. The racecourse itself was founded in 1636. Around 1665, Charles inaugurated the Newmarket Town Plate and in 1671 became the first and only reigning monarch to ride a winner.
