Built over several centuries, it was founded in the 1120s around a powerful Norman great tower, then significantly enlarged by King John at the beginning of the 13th century. RMRHAEF3–Gloucester is the county town and city in Gloucestershire, in the South West of England. It lies close to the Welsh border, on the River Severn. Gloucester Castle was kept in full repair until the mid 15th century when much of the stonework of the castle was taken to construct roads and other buildings and by the mid 17th century all the buildings around the curtain wall had apparently gone, leaving only the main gatehouse and keep, used as the gaol.It was demolished in 1787 and a new gaol finished in 1791 leaving no visible remains of the castle.

RMMJYR6R–The Almonry of Westminster Abbey, where William Caxton (1412-1493) set up the first printing press in England in 1472; the house was demolished in 1845, as were the other buildings of the Almonry. Caxton was born in Kent and after schooling spent many years in Bruges and Holland, rising to an eminent position among his fellow merchants. He went to Cologne and embraced the new technique of printing and acquired a press in order to publish his translations of various French books. Bringing his press to England he rented premises at the sign of the Red Pale in Westminster.

A custom house has been present in the area since the 14th century, and a building on its current site has been rebuilt on a number of occasions.
