More information:

Only 100 people are living in Freedom. This border town got its name from the freedom it gave early Mormon polygamists from having to outrun Idaho law. All they had to do was walk across the street and be in another jurisdiction. Established in 1879, this is the oldest settlement in Star Valley. The total population of Freedom Wyoming/Idaho seems to be more like 500. This sign is at the Wyoming side of the state line.
