The Nazi propaganda image shows a bunker in front of the bitterly embattled 'Dzerzhinsky' tractor and tank factory in the north of Stalingrad (today Volgograd). Taken in November 1942 after it was captured by the German Wehrmacht. A Nazi state reporter has written on the reverse of the picture on 07.11.1942, "The destroyed tractor factory in the stronghold of Stalingrad. A bitter struggle was fought over this factory. The Bolsheviks had surrounded the extensive grounds with bunkers and dug-outs that went 10 metres into the ground in order to prevent German troops from entering." Photo: Berline
