The dried-up carcass of an African elephant (Loxodonta africana) that was eaten by wild animals is all that remains after poachers killed the magnificent mammal. The poachers removed the elephant's valuable ivory tusks that were then smuggled to carvers in China who create artworks sold illegally on the world market. Every day an estimated 100 elephants all across Africa are slaughtered for their ivory in blatant violation of international laws.
