Dentistry in Victorian times was fairly basic. Mainly extractions with strong pliers, or fillings after drilling with a foot-treddle drill. Anaesthetics were minimal (usually ether) or non-existant. Young women often had all their teeth removed before marriage to save their husband having dental fees.
