The Clach an Trushal (Stone of Compassion in English) standing stone on the NW coast of the Isle of Lewis was probably erected in the 2nd or 3rd millennium BC. It is thought to be the only remaining upright stone of a stone circle, the only other remaining stone of which was removed as recently as 1914 for use as a door lintel. It is almost 6m high.
