More information:

St James Church Shere, Surrey was built in 1190. It has a Norman Tower and its lych gate (and the war memorial outside) were designed by Edward Lutyens in 1901. The Church stands in the centre of the village - the village square - and lies to the south of the A25 between Gomshall and Guildford. The Church is on the banks of the 18km long River Tillingbourne (or Tilling Bourne) - a 'subsequent stream' that flows from the Tilling Springs source near Leith Hill; the chalk aquifer of the North Downs to the north of the village and which flows into the River Wey at Guildford. Shere is situated on Greensand, with the chalk downs and the Surrey Hills woodland to the north. Shere is a popular film location, having been featured in "Bridget Jones Diary" 2001; "The Ruling Class" with Peter O'Toole, in 1972; the wedding scene in the church in "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" with Renee Zellweger in 2004; "The Holiday" in 2006 with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law; the wedding scene in the church in "The Wedding Date" 2005, with Dermot Mulroney and Debra Messing.
