Rickshaw puller in Kolkata. INDIA, West Bengal, Kolkata, February 22, 2011. A rickshaw puller pulls his rickshaw with a passengers inside through the streets of Kolkata. Kolkata is the only city in India that still operates hand-pulled rickshaws. The hand rickshaw was brought to India in the early 1900s by Chinese immigrants. Most rickshaw pullers come from India's poorest state of Bihar and earn roughly 2 Euro per day. Most of that money is spent for the rent for the rickshaw and for accomodation.
