This is a memorial that stands in the main square of HuMen (Guang Dong province, China). It commemorates the Chinese burning the British stocks of opium during the Opium War and the consequent checking of the destructive epidemic of addiction, fostered by the British for the sake of trade, that was rampant throughout China at the time. The statue is huge and comprises a pair of hands snapping an opium pipe.
